WIC Dinner and Debate 2020

Veritec people, including myself, are incredibly passionate about supporting women into the ICT industry, staying in the ICT industry and progressing to influential, senior positions in the ICT industry.

It is well known that ICT is a predominantly male industry, and we are proud to be challenging that narrative with an almost 30% female workforce. We still have a way to go but are proud that our female colleagues hold a range of positions from Consultants, Managers, right up to General Managers and our Chief Operating Officer.

WIC – Women in ICT

Veritec are a proud supporter of WIC (Women in ICT) and recently upgraded our sponsorship level to provide financial support for the wonderful work that they do supporting Women who work in the ICT industry. Some of the Veritec team got together in the office Wednesday night to join WIC’s (virtual) Annual Award and Debate night. We enjoyed platters of food delivered to our office while listening to stories of some amazing individuals who work to bolster women in ICT. We also heard from some inspirational women in high demanding and public roles such as Sarah Polhill, CIO, ACCC and Tara Searle, CIO, ANAO. The night continued with a wonderfully hilarious and intelligent debate on the topic of “Cities are Dead”. Congratulations to the negative team for taking out the affirmative by audience vote! It was a great evening, and we congratulate the nominees and winners of the WIC 2020 Awards.

Code Like a Girl

We are incredibly excited to announce our recent partnership with Code Like a Girl. We are looking forward to hosting interns and supporting talented females to develop their careers in technology. Veritec have been fortunate to have had some very talented, highly valued and respected females come out of past internship and graduate programs and we look forward to meeting some more in the near future.

ARN Women in ICT Awards

Two of Veritec’s strong female leaders have been recognized as ARN Women in ICT AWARD finalists. Congratulations and good luck to Emily Curlewis and Megan Stamatis on 20 November when the virtual awards night will be held to announce the winners. You can read more about Emily and Megan’s nominations in my last blog post.

Supporting and promoting women in ICT remains a focus for Veritec and we are committed to supporting programs that do this. There are many skills and assets women can contribute, that men may not be able to, and they are pivotal in closing the digital skills gap for us all to continue building successful and bright futures for people, communities and business.
